Why Vocabulary Development Matters
A strong vocabulary helps children:
Express their thoughts clearly

Build confidence in public speaking
Strengthen writing skills
Develop critical thinking
When children learn new words regularly, they become more articulate and confident communicators.
Building Oracy and Diction Skills
Our Word of the Week programme supports:
Oracy development – helping pupils speak clearly and confidently
Elocution and diction practice – improving pronunciation and articulation
Contextual understanding – using new words correctly in sentences
Creative expression – encouraging storytelling and discussion
By introducing words like “frazzled,” we expose pupils to rich vocabulary that goes beyond everyday language.
This commitment to language excellence ensures our pupils are not only readers and writers — but effective communicators.
“At BlossomHall School, we believe that a rich vocabulary opens doors to confidence, academic success, and powerful self-expression.”
